Drainage and Hydrology Engineering

Drainage is often the controlling issue on a development or infrastructure project. Waeltz & Prete evaluates how runoff enters, crosses, and leaves a site, then develops practical systems that satisfy local criteria and protect adjacent property and public infrastructure.

Drainage Reports That Explain the Design

A useful drainage report should do more than present model output. It should explain the watershed assumptions, rainfall criteria, loss and transform methods, routing, tailwater conditions, detention strategy, downstream impacts, and the relationship between the model and the construction plans. We prepare reports that reviewers can follow and contractors can relate back to the proposed improvements.

Detention and Water Quality

We design detention facilities using site-specific stage-storage and outlet relationships. Where water quality is required, we coordinate the treatment method with site grading, maintenance access, landscaping, outfall conditions, and the applicable local or TCEQ criteria.

Floodplain and Waterway Projects

Projects near creeks, channels, and mapped floodplains require careful coordination of hydraulic impacts, fill, crossings, erosion, access, and permitting. Our experience includes floodplain analysis, low-water crossings, culverts, utility crossings, and coordination with local floodplain administrators and FEMA-related processes.
